First Microtunnelling curved drives in Canada

+ + +

Microtunnelling curved drives now also find their way to Canada. For the Keswick Outfall project in Toronto, we can report on 2 successful breakthroughs.

2 reaches with lenght of 320 m and 210 m and diameter of each 1.200 m have been successfully driven with a VMT Navigation System SLS-Microtunnelling LT. Biggest challenge was buoying upwards of pipes which we could master with our VMT team on-site.

Next advance will start in June 2013.

Breakthrough at Santa Ana River Interceptor project in southern California was announced at 1st May 2013. VMT provided the navigation system.

Initially, the project was planned with few straight drives till the constructor decided for a combined advance. Please read more information here – within the article in North American Microtunnelling.

We´re especially pleased about the great feedback from above mentioned article: “Both the Jackcontrol and VMT systems will be utilized more in North America as the number of curved tunnel drives increases in the industry to save time and money, and reduce disruption.”

At this point, we like to thank Jackcontrol AG and James W. Fowler Co. for great teamwork!
