Why tunnelling – what is the fascination/challenge, … for you
As an 18 year old, I was drawn to Surveying as a profession with an outdoor-indoor mix. My first job after University with Surex Surveyors (2006, Lane Cove Tunnel, Sydney) was challenging & unlike anything I’d been exposed to before.
VMT opened the door to international travel and being part of a globally respected brand. As put by Cam Mills of Surex.. VMT’s unique blend of Surveying & Tunnelling is regarded by many as a “black art”.

Why tunnelling – what is the fascination/ challenge, … for you
I like tunneling because of it’s relatively small community. It is quite possible to come across the same people on different projects anywhere in the world.

Why tunnelling – what is the fascination/challenge, … for you
Meeting the project’s breakthrough accuracy requirement despite complex tunnel alignment, tricky shaft tunnel connections, ground conditions and the effect of the tunnel on existing structures or vice versa.

Why tunnelling – what is the fascination/challenge, … for you
My interest is the technology. Having worked in high precision positional technology for mining I was interested in a different technology for tunnelling.
