DMAX Report: Super Machines in Düsseldorf
On 21st Oct. 2012, the DMAX TV station broadcast a report on the construction of the Wehrhahn line in Düsseldorf. On the VMT YouTube channel, a clip of this report is available.
The construction of the Wehrhahn line will improve the transportation infrastructure in Düsseldorf. The new line extends the existing local public transport network by providing a connection between the eastern and southern areas of the town.
After completion in 2014, the entire line will have 8 stations (2 above and 6 below ground). Approximately 2/3 of the entire length of the Wehrhahn line were excavated by a Herrenknecht TBM and completed in December 2011. The TBM was navigated using the VMT TUnIS Navigation TBM Laser navigation system, assisted by information and monitoring systems: Grout Pressure Sensor System GPSS, Semi-automatic Tailskin Clearance Measurement System GAPtrix, Ring Convergence Measurement System RCMS ,and TUnIS Ring Sequencing.
